Short film: Skateistan

Very cool little documentary from Vimeo’s staff picks on a skateboard park in Kabul, Afghanistan. Question: why don’t many girls in America, where there is no patriarchal restriction, skateboard?

Animated Short Film: Just Delicious

Just discovered this animation, Just Delicious.

Animation is sort of a guilty pleasure for me. There’s so much good stuff out there, I could spend hours watching. It’s so much better than Saturday morning ever was . All I can say is I hope these creators keep up the great work. This one is priceless.

Thank you Brian Bear!

Short Film Review: Signs

Signs is a sweet, slightly goofy, yet poignant short film. It’s boy wants to meet girl but doesn’t know how. Feels like a dork. Has no clue. Figures it out. Cute story. Done well. Happy ending. This version seems a bit blurry. Probably needs a big screen to be viewed properly. Either that or I need a new prescription for my glasses.

It’s a 2009 Cannes Lion winner. Cannes Lion is a festival for people that do commercial work. Advertising folks.

Short Film Review: Two and Two

Two&Two

This Iranian film with English subtitles won the 2012 BAFTA for Best Short Film. Very well put together. Excellent illustration of how a martyrdom may seem pointless, but it never is. There’s always one. And then there’s two, and then there’s…Vive la Revolution!
